Our research uses genetic monitoring and evaluation techniques to provide scientifically-based support for salmonid management and recovery efforts in California. Specifically, we generate and analyze genetic data, including:
-Development and validation of novel genetic markers and whole genome sequence data for salmonids and other California fishes.
-Population structure and stock identification.
-Large-scale genetic tagging studies.
-Molecular analysis of patterns in distribution, migration, life history variation, and trophic interactions.
These efforts provide key data for reintroduction efforts, hatchery broodstock programs, and monitoring programs for threatened and endangered salmonid populations across California.
