Our team develops innovative sampling technologies to monitor coastal pelagic fish species in the California Current, including long-term acoustic trawl surveys, instrumented small craft and buoys, and remotely-operated underwater vehicles. Specifically, we focus on enhancing detection methods and maintaining continuity in abundance data that serve as the bases for stock assessments, and exploring the causes and consequences of marine population dynamics. As such, our research is a central component of management of marine fishes and their ecosystems.
